Each year Coral Leisure chooses a charity to be our Charity Partner for that year. Each of the 9 centres in the Coral Leisure Group nationwide then runs a number of fundraising events over the course of that year with all proceeds going to our chosen partner.

This year Coral Leisure is going in a slightly different direction. As part of the Coral Leisure philosophy, each centre lays down strong roots and integrates fully into our local community, in which we serve. So following on from this philosophy, in 2018 Coral Leisure is not having just one Charity Partner, but 10 Charity Partners.

As every family in Ireland has been affected or touched by cancer to some extent, this year Coral Leisure has partnered up with those charities who support not just the sufferers of Cancer but their families too.
Each centre in the Coral group, along with our Head Office in Dublin, has partnered up with a local cancer support group. So the money raised locally will go to the local charity, in all probability supporting someone you know in your local area.

Coral Leisure looks forward to raising as much money as possible in 2018 to support these fantastic charities which do an amazing and often unsung job.  So keep an eye on your local centre for upcoming events over the whole year.

The White Flag Scheme is the most sought after accolade in the leisure and fitness industry, and is awarded to facilities that meet the operational standards for leisure and fitness facilities as set out in the scheme. The standard is designed to encourage continuous improvement within the sector and recognises facilities for their remarkable standards in the areas of safety, hygiene, customer service and human resources. The White Flag Awards are the only industry specific award for the leisure, health and fitness sector in Ireland.
Coral Leisure is Ireland’s leading Leisure Management Company, managing nine swimming pool and leisure facilities nationwide. Coral Leisure manage public leisure centres in Arklow, Askeaton, Ballinasloe, Cobh, Killarney, Longford, Monaghan, Tuam & Wicklow.
For the second year running all nine centres in the Coral Leisure group achieved the Gold Standard White Flag. This is an amazing achievement for public leisure centres which have some of the highest user rates in the country.
Speaking at the Ireland Active Annual Conference and White Flag Awards, CEO of Ireland Active, Conn McCluskey said:
“The White Flag Awards reward excellence in the Leisure, Health and Fitness sector, and Coral Leisure have been rewarded for their standards across the group by achieving nine Gold standard awards for a second year, which is a remarkable achievement.
Minister Phelan in his address opening our Conference and Awards recommended that all Local Authority Leisure Centres achieve the Gold standard in the White Flag National Quality Awards, and Coral leisure are meeting this standard in all their facilities. We congratulate them on another year of excellence and look forward to them achieving the standard again next year.”
Siobhan Tighe, Managing Director, Coral Leisure said:
“We are extremely proud of this amazing achievement. Over 250 Coral leisure staff nationwide work tirelessly every day to ensure the highest standards of customer service, hygiene and safety in our nine centres. This effort has been recognised and rewarded by Ireland Active.”
Looking towards 2018, Coral Leisure will aim to make it a full house of Gold Awards for the third year in a row, by continuing to maintain the standards set by Ireland Active, the Department of Local Government and Coral Leisure.
David Moore, Operations Director of Coral Leisure:
“We have a holistic approach to health and fitness. We endeavour to get involved in our local communities and support them in any way we can.  We provide exciting and innovative programmes which are designed to reflect a lifestyle driven approach, focusing on health, fitness, wellness, sport and education to provide for a healthier Community”
